Donald Duck Day
It’s Donald Duck Day y’all! You know what that means. Quack Quack Quack Quack Quack, Mr. Ducksworth! That’s FIVE quacks. It’s business time. MAS YSA – Gun (featuring Nicole Miglis) MAS YSA kicks off today’s playlist just as he did our best of May compilation. Cause it’s like that – and that’s the way it is. We were already super stoked for his debut LP Seraph to drop in late July and now we come to find out the Brooklyn auteur has teamed up with Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters?! Code Red! Or Baja Blast. Whatever they got. Demo Taped – Not Enough Atlanta prodigy Demo Taped does it all on his most recent loosie – Not Enough. Appropriately named. I wish there were more of it. Handling production, singing and songwriting – the hype is real. Goldlink – Dance On Me Guess who’s bizzack?! One of the few Hip-Hop artists I get legit excited for these days. Dance On Me shows why. Too strong. And yes – that is a Pharaohe Monch sample you hear. Desire was an underrated album! Method Man – 88 Coupes Say whaaaa?! The M.e.t.h.o.d. Man is back to work on a new solo album and it appears things are goin very well. 88 Coupes is all Meth, and it’s baller, but what we’re most interested to see is who will be featured on the album. Step into millennium! filous – Dawn (featuring ROBB) We just featured filous, the SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD out of Vienna a few days ago and he’s already back with another poppy cruiser. He’s solidified himself as a dance-pop force while introducing us to numerous talents along the way. ROBB here and James Hersey just last week. Pierce Fulton – In Reality Apparently I am late to Pierce Fulton who seems to lay down some prettayy, pretttayyy baller house throws. Even worse that I don’t know him being that he’s from BK. Of course he is. XO – U & I (featuring Shay Lia) XO has been buzzin around for a few years now and it’s about damn time the UK producer breaks through. With help from Shay Lia – U & I is a provocative banger. It gets the people goin. So too will XO’s new album due to drop late July, no doubt. Chiara Hunter – Strange Relationships Idk how you wanna categorize it, but it’s self-tagged as Future Funk so we’ll roll with it. Perhaps we’ll FUNKNROLL with it as it reminds us quite a bit of Prince’s latest album ART OFFICIAL AGE. It’s a strange song about Strange Relationships. And it plays. Weaves – Tick Finally, some guitars in this playlist! The Toronto rockers leave the synths behind for a lo-fi, Wolf Parade-ish, feedback heavy banger custom fit for the Rage Cage. Nobody is reading this. Even if you were you don’t know wtf the Rage Cage is. What a pity. Alabama Shakes – Future People “But this song isn’t new!” No, no it’s not. But this is how we’re wrapping things up here on Donald Duck Day. Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Howard the Duck. These are all just Future People. The Shakes know the deal. This being the biggest tune off an album full of em.
